The Foundational Learning Competence (FLC) Part-Qualification (SAQA ID: 88895) bears reference.
- The FLC is a part qualification at NQF Level 2, which provides learners with fundamental skills in numeracy and literacy in English.
- The FLC (in the absence of other Foundational training) is currently a requirement for the achievement of a large number of Occupational Qualifications registered on the Occupational Qualifications Sub-Framework (OQSF).
- The QCTO would like to notify all stakeholders that the requirement for learners to have achieved the FLC as a pre-requisite for accessing the external assessment (Trade Test) for Trade Occupational Qualifications has been removed.
- The FLC as a requirement for learners to be certificated after the Trade Test on Trade Occupational Qualifications has also been removed.
- All Trade Qualifications are listed in Government Gazette No.35625
- For all other Occupational Qualifications, however, the FLC still remains a requirement if indicated as such in the Qualification Document.
