Funding Applications – Expression of Interest for Funding – 2025-2026 – Closing Date: 14 March 2025

The HWSETA hereby invites constituent and eligible health and welfare organisations/companies, sector statutory bodies, sector associations, universities, TVET Colleges (including public and private nursing colleges), community colleges, health and social development departments and HWSETA partners with signed MOUs to apply for discretionary grant funding. This grant is intended to meet the HWSETA sector needs as set out in the sector skills plan, strategic plan, workplace skills plans and priorities outlined in the National Development Plan.

The discretionary grant is intended for programmes and projects that improve the supply of qualified and competent people in sector-priority occupations and interventions, occupational shortages (hard-to-fill-vacancies) and skills gaps (top-up or critical skills) and economic reconstruction and recovery plan.

In this window, the HWSETA will be allocating discretionary grants for the following learning programmes and the maximum amounts indicated.
• Employed/workers programmes
• Unemployed programmes
• Sector priorities and projects

    Is it mandatory for new employers to provide proof of submission of WSP? If yes, for which financial year? Lastly, are employers required to have prior MoU signed with HWSETA to qualify?

      The University of Pretoria has not received any communication from the HWSETA in regards the new way of the HWSETA’s funding process. I have been administering the HWSETA postgrad awardees since 2019 and have had no communications since the last payment in March 2014 for the 2023 awardees. I am now getting queries about the HWSETA funding for 2025-2026 from a few students and was provided with the relevant link. Some explanation from HWSETA management would be appreciated. Thank you

    Once a student nurse has been accepted for HWSETA bursary for nursing first year studies DN1 in 2024. Will the student automatically qualify for a bursary in 2025 – DN2. The student is underprivileged and registration for 2025 was due in January 2025. By what month will the institution be notified of the HWSETA bursaries 2025?
