EXPRESSION OF INTEREST – TECHNICAL EXPERTS IN THE CATEGORY: HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE

The Health and Welfare Seta in collaboration with the Word Skills South Africa call for qualified and experienced technical experts in the fields of Health and Personal (Social) care to express interest in participating in the activities of the Word Skills South Africa and World Skills Competition and Conferences. Selected experts will form part of a team that will assist South Africa and the sector to succeed in the World Skills Competition in 2022. They will also lead a team of health and personal care competitors to national, regional, and international competitions in 2021 and 2022. Amongst others, the roles of the technical experts are: • Fully understand the category of health and personal care for the World Skills Competition and conference.

  • Transfer technical knowledge and skills to a team of experts and competitors.
  • Attend capacity building programmes relating to the skill.
  • Take the lead to drill other experts and competitors on the skill.
  • Attend provincial, national, regional, and international competitions.
  • Ensure that competitors are adequately prepared for world skills competition.
  • Dedicate time to attend to the activities of World Skills South Africa and be able to travel both nationally and internationally.

The requirements are as follows:

  • A Degree or Diploma in health care or social care field.
  • At least 7 years in clinical care (direct patient care).
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working within home-based care environment/ and or public health/private health.
  • A minimum of 3 years in developing assessment instruments, facilitating or assessing within the health facility/home base care/public health/private health environments (candidate with a fair combination of these will be prioritised).
  • A minimum of three (2) contactable references.
  • Be registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) or South African Nursing Council or South African Council for Social Service Professions or any other related regulatory body where applicable in terms of qualifications.
  • Experience in working with the HWSETA or the Departments of Health, Departments of Social Development, Private Healthcare network or any civil society organisation linked to the health /social services sector.
  • Demonstrable history of excellence in the technical aspects of direct patient care.
